Description

Society is shadowed by the fear of a dark serial killer, a man whose reign of terror has claimed eleven victims in the past sixteen months, and whose actions mirror those of Jack the Ripper, earning him the name 'Son of Jack'...

Four strangers, Dan Pattman, Emma Rosdale, Lloyd Thompson and Lucy Watson, live their individual lives, unaware of how much this grim shadow is playing with their own fears, eating away at them bit-by-bit, and forcing them down their own dark path of self-destruction... and murder.

About The Book

'Son of Jack' by D R Cartwright is a chilling psychological thriller that explores how different minds work when presented with the same fears. In this case four individual people, none of whom know each other, are thrown into a society that is shadowed by a serial killer.

Each person has their own fears and their own beliefs regarding the 'Son of Jack', and each tale explores and reveals how their paranoia combines those fears with reality, causing a spiral of events that they feel are beyond their control. The story follows these characters as their world breaks down around them, and they wonder if they have the strength to ever repair it.

And all the while the 'Son of Jack' looms in the shadows among them and plagues their nightmares. When will he next attack and who will be his next victim? His constant, threatening presence feeds the characters' minds, and as each tale entwines with each other, his intoxication becomes stronger and stronger...

Novel Length: 70,000 words
