They were going to get in, and she still couldn't make the key do what it was supposed to. Her hand was tingling angrily now, the fingers throbbing as blood poured into it, her beating heart bringing sudden, painful life to the numb extremity. The sound of breaking glass continued as they smashed the entire back window in, littering the read seat with it, sending sparkling pieces into their hair.
"Come out, come out, whoever you are!" Giggles erupted behind them, the stench of unwashed bodies filling the car, undercut by a sickly sweet smell. Cheryl thought she heard a moan, but it was hard to hear over the insane giggling that filled the car now, and the sound of another window breaking.
"We're coming to get you, bitch!" The man next to Cheryl said, his face slamming into the window again and again, wild eyes strangely clear as he bashed his forehead into the glass. "Come out now!"
