Description
The Seventh Boat
When a young American environmental activist throws himself in front of a harpoon meant for a whale, his friend, Mike Adams, vows to avenge his death.
Adams manages to persuade the maverick John Blackwood, a retired naval officer, to help him in his quest. Together they find shadowy backers and recruit an international team to execute their dangerous plan.
The following year, a retired Australian warship goes missing. In a desperate race against time, and fearing a major terrorist attack, security services across the globe attempt to track down and intercept the missing vessel.
Adams and Blackwood's quest takes them from the busy streets of London to the wide open spaces of Western Australia, and finally to the freezing wastes of the Antarctic, where they stalk their target and are, in turn, stalked by a US submarine with orders to kill them.
The authors
David Ashbridge and Tom Clark have been friends for over twenty years, having first met in the mid-eighties, when both worked for a management consultancy in London.
The concept of The Seventh Boat began when Tom, who now lives in Australia, was on a business trip to London. He and David met for a drink, and the possibility of writing a novel together came up in conversation.
Both have a keen interest in environmental issues, and the idea of a thriller centred on the whaling industry developed that evening. Retiring to Tom's borrowed flat, they worked late into the night, developing their ideas for the story.
That was some time ago.
Now, having worked extensively on this project in addition to their 'day jobs', they have completed the story of The Seventh Boat.
