Description
One-thousand daily, news-inspired haiku from author Matt McHugh, as posted on his Twitter feed from 2009 into 2012.
** FROM THE INTRODUCTION **
Like most people over 30, I don't get Twitter.
One-hundred-and-forty character "microblogs" -- what can you actually do with that? The question rattled around in my head until it happened to connect with another thought: haiku. A traditional Japanese poetic form, rendered in English in three lines consisting of five, seven, and five syllables. A typical haiku fits 140 characters easily, and it's a pretty popular approach on Twitter. Enamored by the idea, on March 30, 2009, I decided to try tweeting a news headline every day in haiku form.
About three years on, I hit the 1000 mark.
