Description

Happy Easter to all our readers! And happy April Fool's Day/Easter Monday, too!

This week we begin with the final part of Todd Nelsen's Bernard.

That's followed by Ron Koppelberger's Blood and Roses. Ron is a poet, a short story writer and an artist who has written 103 books of poetry over the past several years and 18 novels the world over. Omar ZahZah returns, with a postmodern ghost story featuring the famous French structuralist. We also have another episode of James Rhodes' The Days of Mr. Thomas, where Joseph is puzzled by the government still advertising places on the Mars mission despite its cancellation. Then Konstantine Paradias, author of Stone Cold Countenance, returns to Schlock! with a Faustian tale of the criminal underworld entitled Razor Edge Tango.

Our featured story this week is our new serial, Gregory KH Bryant's The Caves of Mars, a planetary romance in the vein of the John Carter stories (think Edgar Rice Burroughs' novels, not the recent Disney version). A mysterious narrator is trapped in a dream of the mundane world where he tells the story of his real life - on the planet Mars. It ties in well with HG Wells' First Men in the Moon, which comes next, and Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth, our other serials.

Then Obsidian Mercutio Tesla interviews the alternative model Sarah Stitches.

We've lost the 'Books From Our Contributors Section' due to unacceptable demands from Amazon, so from now on we'll be featuring their books in the editorial. And so, we'd like to publicise James Rhodes' Hettford series, which is available for free from Amazon over the Easter period. Series One can be downloaded from http://www.amazon.com/Hettford-Witch-Hunt-Series-ebook/dp/B00AO2FX6U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364562270&sr=8-1&keywords=hettford. And the Easter Special is at http://www.amazon.com/Hettford-Witch-Hunt-Special-ebook/dp/B00C2T5Y6C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1364562270&sr=8-2&keywords=hettford

I'd also like to draw the attention of everyone who enjoyed Birke Duncan's campus zombie apocalypse, Lesson Plan, to his book. Wolf's Bane in Mocha.

Just as a reminder, we're still open submissions to our latest anthology, The Pulpateers. What we're looking for is previously unpublished old-style pulp stories in the genres of science fiction, fantasy and horror. Word length 6000. Please follow, as far as possible, the Lester Dent Pulp Fiction Formula. The content, as long as it's sci fi/fantasy/horror, is up to the individual author, but try to make it pulpy and retro. Weird tales, superheroes, Flash Gordon-style space opera, even noir or spy-fi, as long as it has a supernatural or SF twist, will all be accepted. Deadline: 19th May. Payment: exposure plus discounted copies. Send all submissions to editor@schlock.co.uk
