Description

Sex, drugs and rock and roll are wrapped around one man's quest to defy the bounds of his very existence, desperate is he to deny the mental illness that rages within, he will go to almost any length to fight it, even if that means taking himself to the brink of destruction.
Three people across Europe are drawn together over time, each carrying their own demons; the repressed police man, the female, bohemian designer and finally, the central character, a young Dutch man who seems to be on this self destruct mode. His demons the most transparent, are ones he feels determined to fight and deny to the bitter end.
The story begins at the end, showing the reader a glimpse in to a world of excess and regret against a back drop of sun, sea and hedonism where the main character must finally come to terms with and deal with the trajectory he has taken. To find out how he got there the book goes back in time to show where he came from and how he became connected with the other two characters. In his past he is confronted by family mental illness, failed relationships, crime and vice. The main thread of the story is that Bacchus or Tomas, as he is called in the book, is unable to accept who he is and is compelled to deny his very existence. As his demons become more vicious he attempts to run away and is taken across Europe on journey that only seems to lead back to his own despair and desperation. The question, ultimately then is, how long can he keep running for and will anything change this supposed doomed, chain of events. Through unexpected circumstances the three main characters are brought together in an emotionally charged atmosphere and as events unfold they discover that to their initial horror they are forever bonded which will change their lives forever.
