Description
We bought a new camper van, mostly because our old jeep gave up the ghost this year whilst we were towing our caravan to Scotland earlier in the year. Luckily, a superb Royal Automobile Club technician worked well outside of the call of duty to keep us on the road and complete our holiday.
But, you know, when you lose confidence in a car it is time to replace it. We had a choice to make - did we replace the car with another car that we could use to tow, or did we buy the motor home now, as we were intending to buy one later.
So, after seeing the 'van we wanted, we bought it and our first major trip was to visit our daughter and family in Spain, as it was Julie's xxth birthday, and then drive back through France.
A baptism of fire, you might think, as we did just about 3,500 miles as our first real outing in the van, and all on the "wrong" side of the road!
This is our journal of the trip and represents our candid views of what we saw and met; you may, or may not agree and that's OK because we all have our own take on the world.
As with all of the "Smiths" travel journals all proceeds will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
