Interview with the author:

So what makes MODERN MYTHMAKERS so special?

Michael McCarty: Although there are celebrities and famous people interviewed in the book (such as Elvira, Ray Bradbury, Dean Koontz, H.G. Lewis, Richard Matheson, John Carpenter, John Saul, Joe McKinney, Peter Straub, Linnea Quigley, Laurell K. Hamilton, Adrienne Barbeau, Christopher Moore and more), this isn't a book of celebrity interviews. It is a book about the art and craft of writing horror and science fiction. It is also the same for the film business of the same genres. We got down to the bare bones of the book and film business with people who have mastered their craft and enjoy sharing their knowledge in the book.

Why should readers give MODERN MYTHMAKERS a try?

Michael McCarty: The book is bursting at the seams with great interviews. You'll walk away knowing more about the interviewees but also about the horror and science fiction publishing and film industry.

Which interview did you enjoy the most and why?

Michael McCarty: I get asked that often and it is a hard question to answer. I had done over 150 interviews with some of the top names in horror and science fiction and I pared down all these interviews to the crème de la crème for this book. Of all the interviews in the book, the interview with Ray Bradbury is the one I enjoyed doing the most because I did the interview with all my heart, and surprising, Ray Bradbury did, too.
