First published in 1848, it was translated in English by Constance Garnett (1861-1946) in 1918.
"White Nights" is a masterpiece of romantic love. It tells the story of a young man who lives in St. Petersburg and uses to walk alone all night long.
One night, he encounters a girl, alone as him, named Nastenka...
The novella has been adapted for the screen numerous times, including the 2008 movie "Two Lovers", starring Gwyneth Paltrow.
