Description
For the first time in 2019, Amy Jackson intended to produce a chapbook of her poetry. Only she had been writing poems since 1985, and didn't realize how much she had written over the years, and how much she wanted to share. Many of these poems have been on Amy's website (www.amyjackson.cc) since the early days of the Internet. As a result of pulling together her poetry, two Volumes of poems were produced to be available online, both in Kindle E-book, and stand: ard paperback.Volume I: Nature, FantasyEarly odes to Nature are followed by word collections and wordplay, such as Summer Thicket and Memiel, in the first and section sections. Nature has always been Amy's greatest inspiration. Also included are words1 and words2, two collections of found words she wrote down in notepads, in her car, by the bed, in her purse, while traveling around Tennessee for work for three years in the 1990s. The collections of found words also got her out of a multi-year writer's block. In addition, this new wordplay she began over this time opened up a new world of combining words in English, Spanish and French.Volume II: Relationships, Healing, SocietyJackson has written about her life experiences through the years, with personal and public poetry. Many of the poems written since 2016 have not been published on her website, and appear here for the first time. Amy is a survivor of child sexual abuse, and is now on federal disability because of that and two chronic pain issues. Her visual art and writing serve as art therapy in her healing process, which she shares with confessional but lyrical, image poems, as she finds meaning in her journey as an individual and with others.
