Il cliente che si presenta in Baker Street è di quelli importanti: un ex ambasciatore follemente innamorato della moglie molto più giovane di lui che è misteriosamente scomparsa. Le indagini si concentrano sull'atelier di un celebre scultore che stava eseguendo una statua della donna commissionata dal marito. Sherlock Holmes e Watson si confronteranno con un delitto che, come diceva de Quincey, è diventato una delle belle arti.


CG Rosenquist è nato a Chicago e vive attualmente a Lindenhurst, Illinois. Ha studiato scrittura creativa e poesia al College di Lake County, a Grayslake. Ha pubblicato dodici libri, tra i quali c'è anche una raccolta di storie Holmesiane intitolata Sherlock Holmes - The Pearl of Death and Other Early Stories edita dalla MX Publishing. Ha anche pubblicato un altro apocrifo in Sherlock Holmes Mystery Magazine. Il suo amore per le avventure di Sherlock Holmes è cominciato da bambino, quando ha visto Basil Rathbone in Il mastino dei Baskerville, un amore tuttora immutato che gli fa apprezzare la meravigliosa reinterpretazione moderna del fantastico Benedict Cumberbatch. Naturalmente GC Rosenquist è anche un fervido ammiratore di Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
