Description
In the April edition of this germinal cross-genre literary and art magazine, our creators take you from the far reaches of space (where magic may or may not exist) to locations as mundane as an office (except there's a tearoom that let's you walk into an alternate, less mundane reality). In this issue you'll also find the first pages of the comic Project Auroral in which a LGBTQ superhero battles to save Earth from subjugation from those closest to her. There's also the second part of our first serialization by R. Z. Held, a great little weird western reminiscent of Robin McKinley and Peter Dickinson. And, finally, there's just some beautiful artwork.
Here's a peek at the content:
1) "Ghost Writer": A witty little ghost story that also delves into inspiration and letting go of our heroes by Philip Brian Hall.
Tagline: "A hard-up young writer encounters the ghost of a famous golden-age SF writer who wants to recruit an amanuensis."
2) "Goblin Star": A swords and spaceship story that treads from the stars to a castle by David A. Gray.
Tagline: "Beset by goblins, tam must help Sheriff Magna stop a man possessed by the creatures before they take more souls."
3) Project Auroral: Chapter 1: A stunningly colored superhero comic drawn by Marc Rene and written by Ben Pyle.
Tagline: "Aryn--a brilliant scientist turned superhero--fights her former wife Gabby and their teammates to save Earth from subjugation by alien forces."
4) "Accountability": A hard to define story that wavers between magical realism and absurdism by Gareth D. Jones.
Tagline: "In an office in Chelmsford, there's a tearoom that leads to an alternate reality, and there's a man who can't stop counting."
5) "Hotel for Psychics": An atmospheric photo manipulation by Christopher Woods.
Tagline: "The hotel for psychics is a special, and most imaginative, gathering place for psychic conventioneers."
6) "Short Handed": A far future science fiction story that might just swerve into a fantasy world by Harold Gross.
Tagline: "While celebrating a scientific break-through, Jackson realizes he may have discovered magic."
7) "After the Warding: Part II": A weird west, mestiza fantasy story by R. Z. Held.
Tagline: "In the celebrations following the Century Warding, it seems everyone wants something from Aurea and the rest of the Sixteen. As Aurea drowns under their expectations, she gives way to wild parties."
*This is a serialiazed work.*
8) "As the Crow Flies": A black and white cyberpunk illustration by O. Sander.
Tagline: "A punk fairy rides her crow through the skies."
