Description
Her dream job is his nightmare...
Nerissa lives in a world of silence, Deaf since tragedy robbed her of her parents and hearing in a single week. Her aunt wants her to settle down, but Nerissa would rather be alone than "settle." She catalogues museum artifacts, a far cry from her dreams of running on her own archaeological dig, but she's determined to forge a career despite her disability. She's thrilled at the chance to supervise the excavation of an ancient shipwreck, until disastrous encounter with a hot Navy man at a networking function mortifies her. It gets worse: he's been assigned as her new sign language interpreter.
Lieutenant Nick Griffith enjoys Navy life, traveling the world and all it has to offer, especially the women. He didn't sign up to babysit some professor scratching at the sea floor. He's shocked to find it's the woman who dissed him at the party. Sparks fly, yet somehow she resists him. What the hell?
As the dig uncovers priceless artifacts and stirs the ghosts of her past, Nerissa is beset with offers of "collaboration" from peers who want in. She falls hard for Nick, who's happy to bed her, but can she count on him if the wreck is spectacular enough to provoke murder?
Get Submerged Hopes, which readers are calling "a heart-pounding adventure" and "a smart, sexy, and satisfying romance."
Interview with the author: Q: What made you decide to write Submerged Hopes?
A: I love an alpha male military man -- that great combination of sex appeal and competence, and how can you go wrong with a guy who surfs? I was fascinated by the idea that the heroine's hearing loss, which was such a challenge, could be an asset underwater, and wanted to portray a damaged yet strong woman who can save herself. I enjoy sports romance, but tire of reading only about ballplayers, and scuba diving is not only a chance of pace but integral to a gripping plot.
Q: Anything else?
A: I wanted to explore the difficulty in a cross-cultural romance, which provides some juicy conflict that powers the story. And I like writing about women who can overcome their fears when the situation is dire.
