Disaster fell on dancer Elsie Spencer when rehearsing a scene for a new play - Last Tango.
Her leading man Carlos (Spanish) after a frantic dance sent Elsie sprawling across the stage where she lay waiting to be retrieved
The piano music stopped and she heard voices coming from the wings, then saw the last of Carlos being marched off by the police.
She rose from her position to find both pianists and producer had disappeared.
Terrified for fear the police would return and arrest her, she escaped through side window back stage and fled for a bus back to Clapham.
