Der "Deutsche Novellenschatz" ist eine Sammlung der wichtigsten deutschen Novellen, die Paul Heyse und Hermann Kurz in den 1870er Jahren erwählt und verlegt haben, und die in vielerlei Auflagen in insgesamt 24 Bänden erschien. Um die Lesbarkeit zu verbessern, wurden in dieser Edition die sehr alten Texte insofern überarbeitet, dass ein Großteil der Worte und Begriffe der heute gültigen Rechtschreibung entspricht. Dies ist Band 1 von 24. Enthalten sind die Novellen:

Brentano, Clemens: Geschichte vom braven Kasperl und dem schönen Annerl.
Goethe, Johann Wolfgang von: Die neue Melusine.
