Description
Can healthcare be re-envisioned through a 'nature-based solutions' lens? For decades practitioners have been exploring therapeutic practices outside of the office walls. Programs and services have offered a wide-range of clients opportunities to flourish, regain health, and increase their quality of life through outdoor therapeutic approaches. From the basic benefits of fresh air and physical exercise, through the development of interpersonal skills and social competencies gained during facilitated outdoor activities, therapists around the world have effectively utilized outdoor therapies.
Nature and Health(care) explores these areas of practice through revisiting past writings on the topic which range from basic introductions to exploration of theories and concepts defining a number of outdoor therapies. The first volume in this series centres on the editor's own explorations with practitioner and research colleagues in adventure, wilderness and nature-based therapies and provides the reader with an overview of the fields of outdoor therapies.
