Life is looking good for Bran Fairfield. He's got a date with Helen, the most amazing woman ever, and he's even called a truce with the police chief.
But nothing in Little Hope is ever simple, and when animals go missing from the local sanctuary, Bran has no choice but to get involved. Even worse, the woman who runs the sanctuary has disappeared, leaving a pool of blood behind but nothing in the way of clues.
When Bran's mother -- currently in hedgehog form -- also gets stolen from the shop, he's determined to hunt down the magical miscreant.
Just when he thinks things couldn't possibly get any worse, Freddy freaks out when his beloved puppies get nabbed from right under his nose. Not the puppies!
Grenadine the super-sentient spider tags along, riding on Bran's disgruntled familiar, Kale the Irish Wolfhound, as they all chase down the clues, interview the local crazies, and try not to cause more harm than good.
It soon becomes apparent that all is not as it seems, and this case has more twists and turns than a Welsh country road. The sanctuary owner wasn't as nice as Bran believed, and made plenty of enemies, and his mum has been harbouring a dark secret for years.
But at least he got to have his date. The question is, will he get to go on another one? Or will the utter madness that is Little Hope send Helen running back to the city with her new wand chucked in the bin?
Get ready for a wild ride where one sneeze can see you turned into a rabbit, the local baker is a real giant, and even the pub is run by a pair of vampires. Watch out for Grenadine the super-sentient spider too!
