Description
England v Australia for the Ashes... The greatest contest in cricket - and probably the greatest rivalry in all international sport. And with a new series just started, the world of cricket will be watching events in Australia and anticipating another dramatic chapter in Ashes history.
Cricket's first Test match took place in March 1877 (Australia beating England by 45 runs), and prior to the start of the current series there have been 321 Tests between the two nations, all of which have been reported in Wisden Cricketers' Almanack.
Wisden on the Ashes contains the Almanack's original match reports from every Ashes Test to date, plus numerous extracts from other related articles including the Editor's Notes, tour reviews and Cricketer of the Year essays.
The Kindle edition has been specially updated to include Wisden 2010's reports of the 2009 series by some of cricket's best writers, together with articles by England's captain (Andrew Strauss) and coach (Andy Flower) explaining how England regained the Ashes in that series.
As the late Sir Alec Bedser said in his foreword to the book, "Cricket is fortunate to have an international contest which is the envy of all sports. The history of the Ashes is the most eventful sporting story of all, and there can be no better way to read about it than through the original words of Wisden which make up this splendid anthology"
