Description

Book Synopsis:
In the rough and rowdy days of 1883 Kansas, Will Savage, former range detective for the Cattleman's Association, is called back to hit the trail and smoke out a cold blooded killer---and reward him with a bag of gold for the murder of the Abilene marshal.

As we sweat out our ride west with Savage, the well defined characters we come up against along the way almost leap off the page: The brother of the man he's after is the town marshal; the roughneck with a noose around the neck of a twelve-year-old boy. And he lines up for a shootout---with help from an unexpected source--- with the Barefoot clan that wants him dead because he killed our kin.

Savage loses his wife Carrie to a vindictive partner who convinces her that Savage died in an Indian raid. You'll meet Amos Cully, Savage's red bearded, roughhewn sidekick, small of stature but quick with a gun. John Castledine is a hard-nosed, by-the-book lawman who must choose between his badge and his brother. And you'll love Meg McGraf as she and Savage rekindle the flame of an old acquaintance.

You don't want to miss this gripping tale of the old west, of the unwavering character of two strong men, each dedicated to doing the right thing. One is determined to deliver the bag of gold; the other hellbent to keep him from it.

The surprise ending lets you decide who wins.
