Description

Alex Phelan walked away from the life of a rich and powerful business mogul. As the head of a major corporation in the Earth-centered Federation he is one of the most desireable bachelors in the known galaxy. What makes a man give up all of that for the chance to die suddenly at the "hands" of an invading alien species?

Ask anyone who has served in the Armored Infantry Corps as Alex had in the past and now will again. The men and, for the first time, women of the AIC jump into combat in fearsome battle armor facing down the deadly Tula on worlds scattered across the sky. Their new armor improved survival and effectiveness. The Devastator armor is smaller than the older, less reliable Crusader II armor with as much firepower. The new Tiger armor allowed women to join the fight on and below the ground. Tigers carried less weapons but possessed more speed than anything yet fielded by human or Tula forces.

Until now human ingenuity and firepower had done little to slow the Tula which matured in months from birth to full fighting capability. Alex Phelan, now back in uniform, has a few ideas that might make a difference. He just has to live long enough to try them.

His big chance came during an attempt to free the capital of Himmel's Port. The mission was the largest since the failed invasion of Kormorund. Success meant the AIC and the Federation had something to build on. Failure meant the end would come that much sooner.

Sometimes you just have to let it roll.
