Description
Tazmand and his companions have escaped Karesh city - just. They find themselves in the Scavenging Grounds, a vast landscape of rubbish outside the city walls but, now they are free, what's next? Closely pursued by a group of soldiers sent by the Emperor and led by Sash, a slave overseer with a personal grudge against Tazmand, they must find safety and, ultimately, decide where they are heading.
As Tazmand's powers increase and he attempts to uncover his fate, who can he trust? How does he make sense of a confusing interrelationship between his dreams and real life? What is the significance of blood? Why does the demon Demogorgon want him dead and the man with the turban wants him alive? Why, and how, do the dead come back to life?
Befriended by Maggot, a young scavenger who makes his living trawling through rubbish and Greef, a trainee Coenobite with (erratic) magical powers, Tazmand undertakes a journey, fraught with danger, betrayal and deceit, that tests the bounds of loyalty and friendship to the limit.
'Greef' is book two of the 'Bloodstone of Cardemont' series.
