The inaugural issue of Ploughshares from Fall 1971, guest-edited by co-founder DeWitt Henry. Ploughshares, a journal of new writing, is guest-edited serially by prominent writers who explore different personal visions, aesthetics, and literary circles.
See where it all began! This is the first issue of Ploughshares ever published. Edited by the magazine's co-founder, DeWitt Henry, the issue features work from a number of accomplished writers, including Ted Berrigan, Tom Lux, David Gullette, Anne Waldman, and many others who would continue to have relationships with the magazine over the years.
