Description

Michael Campbell, an absentee father, decides to make up for lost time with his family by taking them on a cruise to the Caribbean. Both his wife, Elizabeth, and his thirteen year old son, Andrew, are overjoyed and they gladly accept. The cruise will take them to three ports of call; the historic town of Falmouth in Jamaica, Labadee in Haiti and Cozumel in Mexico.
When they arrive at Falmouth, Andrew pretends to be sick so as not to accompany his parents to shore. He instead opts to go to a supervised area of the ship to play with other children but quickly becomes bored. At this point he schemes with two other kids to get pass the dreaded door keeper and they are eventually successful in leaving the area, but he would never have imagined that his two cronies would steal off the ship as well. Hesitantly he follows them onto land, only to hear someone shouting his name. It is a peculiarly dressed lady with an even more peculiar accent. She is elegantly robed in a flamboyant frock and she proceeds to lead him through the town.
Not very long afterwards, Andrew encounters a group of raucous children playing in the streets. The group is led by a feisty tomboy, Evonna, who quickly takes a likeness to him, and he likewise. As they start conversing the weirdest thing happens to Andrew... As this is happening, Andrew's parents are on their way to tour an old English plantation a few miles outside of town. When they get there, they are first taken into the grand old house that was a pride and joy in times past. Strangely, however, mounted on a wall in the entrance hall is a picture of one of the sons of the late owner that has a striking resemblance to Michael. This all seems to be but a mere coincidence, until... Michael begins to change... and Elizabeth panics... With time fast running out, the story climaxes with a struggle to free Andrew and to capture the villain before either father or son dies. They almost fail except that help comes right in time from unexpected places. The Campbells all return to the ship not knowing what awaits them in Haiti, but it doesn't matter now as the Cruise ship sails out of Port.
