Description

Thresholds: Essays on the International Prague Poetry Scene explores the critical impact of four of the most prominent Anglophone poets active in Prague over the past 20 years--Gwendolyn Albert, Louis Armand, Laura Conway and Vincent Farnsworth--placing them within the tradition of Prague emigre writers like Marina Tsvetaeva, the minoritarian tradition of Franz Kafka, post-1989 social activism, and the continuing development of Czech surrealism. The collection addresses issues of transculturality, transnationalism, locality and regionalism. The essays & interviews collected here provide insights into the concerns of an ongoing international discussion about what has come to be termed translocal poetry.

Contributors include: Gwendolyn Albert, Ali Alizadeh, Louis Armand, Laura Conway, Chris Crawford, Stephan Delbos, Vadim Erent, Jane Lewty, Jules Mann, Katerina Pinosova.

David Vichnar is the editor of the online journal Hypermedia Joyce Studies, and of the essay collections Hypermedia Joyce (with Louis Armand; 2010), Thresholds: Essays on the International Prague Poetry Scene (edited, 2011) and, most recently, Praharfeast: James Joyce in Prague (with Michael Groden & David Spurr; 2012).
