Description
Poets are musicians, thinkers, clowns. They speak our language, but play with it - even as they are slicing out bloody parts of our lives. The reader, being sung to as he reads, must be shaken, both up and down.
What a poem offers cannot be a guaranteed road to happiness. A truly good poem opens unseen doors, bringing the unsuspecting reader into a world looking like that which he already knows - but which, in fact, he has not begun to understand. "Open all these doors!" commands the poem. "Reader: see what is really happening to you!"
