Description
According to a news story that appeared in The Dallas Morning News, an "airship" crashed in Aurora Texas on April 17th, 1897. According to the news report, published two days later, the "airship" crashed into the windmill at Judge Proctor's place and the pilot -- a "Martian" -- was killed in the crash and later buried in the town cemetery.
Behind the popular mythology of what happened that day in Aurora Texas, there is a back-story that has been passed down through five generations of the Haydon family. If my dad was still alive, he would be annoyed at my publishing this book as fiction instead of non-fiction, but I would have to believe the story was real for me to suggest that it was true...
