Description
In NYC BUSKER My Life as a Subway Musician,
Matthew Nichols presents a raw, incisive, and compelling account of what it means to go from being a teenaged, aspiring classical guitarist to busking in the dirt and filth of the New York City subway system.
January 24, 2011 - Ten Dollar Bill
I went home from busking today, took a long nap and came back out to busk some more in the afternoon. I was playing at 59th and Lex, when this guy told me that he really liked my music and asked if he could buy my CD for three dollars. For some stupid reason, I told him that he could, so he dropped in a ten and took out seven ones.
Now check this out. When I got home tonight and started counting my money, I found in amongst my bills, the most fake, badly counterfeited ten dollar bill there ever was. The guy ripped me off! Essentially, he stole my CD and seven dollars. I hope he likes my music, that fucker!
