Description
At age fifteen, Herschel's family leaves Russia for the United States, where he refuses to go to school. Taking a low-level job in a store, he works thoroughly and thinks hard. The owner likes him, and falls in love with the boy's younger sister, Judith. Young Even Cohen, about to attend Harvard, falls for Susan, marries, then takes her with him. Herschel's boss turns the business over to a boy no longer merely a boy, then takes Judith for world-wide ocean trips.
