A novel both realistic and mystical, Transformations has three major characters -- a young plumber, the plumber's young wife (a new mother, but as yet unmarried), and an "old man" who appears on a park bench, coming out of nowhere, going away to nowhere, but somehow seeming to know everything. The plumber goes wild, when asked for a marriage. But the old man, waiting, watching, brings them back together. Where then does the old man then go? Who knows?
