Description
Pam Ayres meets Spike Milligan in this humorous volume. Whether he's describing the behaviour of children, their parents or pointing up the peculiar pranks of priests and politicians you'll love the irreverent humour and the quirky slant the author puts on his work. Sometimes a little rude but always with style and wit. Never is it crudely done.
Did you ever have a friend who was a frustrating, awkward, irritating devil that just wouldn't exploit his god-given talents? Well Milligan is one such thorn in my side. There have been times I could have gleefully strangled the sod. That is up until now.
I've known him for thirty odd years and he has always been able to reel off witty comic poems and songs on almost every subject under the sun at the drop of a hat. Would he write them down? Seldom is the answer and then he'd just forget them.
Now after years of nagging he's finally gotten round to writing some seriously funny stuff and has committed it to computer. It only took me another year to get him to publish this book.
When I had a first draft of this work I thought I'd read a couple of his new poems just to get a flavour of it; I ended up reading it from start to finish in one sitting.
Milligan has been twice married and has been a soldier, a salesman, a skydiver and a Scuba dive instructor. He's travelled the world, lived life to the full always viewing it in his own quirky way. He talks too fast and he talks too much but always is amusing. To his credit I've never heard him put anyone down.
I'm sure one day he'll be recognised as a great wit (He's already reached the half way stage) so do yourself a favour and give your giggling gear a workout. You'll be very glad you did.
