Description
Before full night comes, when the air is indigo and objects less distinct, time and space can shift. This is the magic hour...
For Nathan Byrne, his job as a homicide detective is what's real to him, what makes sense -- until losing control of his car, he crashes on an isolated road. A head injury results in blackouts, pulling him into the shadows of an alternate world where the mysterious Naliv seeks his help to save her people and a shaman named Jinsaih shows him symbols of his ancient past.
He thinks he is losing his mind. Sent by his captain into a backwater town in the Pacific Northwest to get his act together, Nathan finds himself drawn to the slower pace of life the town holds, to the work of solving a real-life murder with the local sheriff, and to Sela, an artist and preacher. Nathan wants to be with Sela, but the blackouts continue and he is brought again and again into the alternate world of Naliv and Jinsaih.
As the border between his world and theirs begins to merge, he is terrified he'll lose his grip on what is real and there will be no way back.
