Description
This parable's purpose is to teach the twelve disciples about group prayer, as requested in verse 1. This specific purpose sets its context; however, this point is often overlooked missing the actual application intended by Jesus. Instead, the application becomes lost in attempting to analyze the parable outside of its stated purpose - learning about group prayer. This study examines the reason and purpose of the friend going to his neighbor in the middle of the night, bringing out the deeper truths intended. It also resolves confusion over the Greek noun in verse eight, mistranslated into English as persistence, revealing its correct meaning, which leads to understanding the purpose of the parable. The application as understood by the disciples also applies to all Christians today, providing assurance of God hearing and answering our group prayers.
