A pulp SF novella.

Victorian gentleman Dr. Jeremiah Fothering-Smythe has had a hard time of it since being abducted from his home planet of Earth. Hitching a ride on a space freighter, where he fills the lowly position of "cabin boy", should have been a blessing - a way to get himself closer to home.

As usual, of course, it only leads to trouble. The space vessel suffers one calamity after another, and when Jeremiah finds himself and some of his fellow crew stranded on a hostile world, their ship helpless to give aid, he must rely on his wits and the strength of those about him to win the day.
