Description
Betrayed by the friends he trusted and woman he loved, Harry Langston roams New York's blizzard-swept streets begging for enough cash to buy a bottle of bum wine. Five years of prison and homelessness have transformed this good man into an animal fleeing the druggies in the city's alleys and subway tunnels.
But Harry's life is about to change. A failed mob hit will lead him to a broken African American prize fighter, a crazed charter boat skipper, and a sea battle against the Sinaloa drug cartel for a treasure beyond his imagination. An assassin is rising out of Mexico and heaven help those who tried to destroy him.
Amazon Reviews:
"A gripping and action-packed start to an exciting series! From The Depths delivers intense thrills, compelling characters, and a plot full of twists. A must-read for fans of assassin stories." (Huber, Italy 12/30/24)
"An intense journey of betrayal, survival, and redemption. Harry's transformation from a broken man to a fierce antihero is both gripping and emotional. The vivid descriptions of New York's harsh streets and the dangerous world of organized crime pull you in, while the unique supporting characters, like the prizefighter and eccentric boat skipper, add depth and intrigue." (M. Fletcher, Germany 11/25/24)
"Always had a fascination with antiheroes and this author made Harry's story so vivid! Strap on and check out this thriller for yourself." (Jordan K.)
"This is a well-developed story of a guy who deserves a better wife and friends. The book is intriguing and powerful." (SVDS)
"Recommended for its fast pace, realistic dialogue, and explosive ending." (AC)
"Fast-paced plot with realistic dialogue between the lead character and his African American street bud. For me, the crazed skipper of the vintage PT Boat really pulled the story together. This is a well-written story that could make a good movie or television pilot." (MS)
"A believable story about a guy who gets screwed by his friends. The surprise ending in the Gulf of California makes From the Depths a good read." (LC)
"The gritty scenes inside Manhattan's subway tunnels reminded me of the scary New York I left some years ago. The blizzard scene in Central Park brought back un-fond memories of slush, chilled wind gusts, and blinding snow. Lots of action, balanced with a good plot and strong characters. I liked the book's abrupt shift from the frozen East Coast to Southern California." (LM)
