Description
As plague descends on an unsettled world, some will reap what others have sown. The Black Death arrives in England to cast the serene lives of Wolfhampcote's populace into chaos. Superstition prevails within the village and beyond it. The narrative unfolds through the eyes of Joan, a young village resident, and of Thomas de Beauchamp, Earl of Warwick, as they independently face trials in which the nature of reality becomes blurred. Joan, alongside her sister Margaret and local noble William de Ros, seeks to rid her village of the pestilence that afflicts it, while Beauchamp becomes embroiled in a political coup. Both are impelled by love and hindered by treachery as they muster all their courage for the struggle against adversity. Although, evil walks the earth and the four horsemen have ridden, signalling that even the bravest of heroes may not withstand the end of days.
