Description
In 2005, a dusty collection of papers were discovered in a cellar in Dublin. Untouched since 1860, the papers told the story of Otaro, a Japanese fencing teacher, and Captain Robert Hood, a discharged American soldier. It was a tale of duels, suspense and adventure in a Japan struggling to come to terms with the realities of the steam-powered 19th century.
When the two friends discover a samurai lord murdered on the road and his only son and heir kidnapped, they find themselves drawn into a mystery as baffling as it is deadly.

Conrad Kinch was born with the gift of laughter and the sense that the world was mad. He was variously employed in the Church, the book trade, newspapers and tourism. A poor hand with a sabre and an only passable pistol shot, he is fondly remembered by all those who have never lent him money.
He lives and works as a police officer in his native Dublin with his exceptionally patient wife, Mrs. Kinch and two very demanding cats. Their children Teddy & Tilly Kinch are currently auditing for the part of the villains in his next novel, which he will write as soon as he gets some sleep.
