Description

He survived Sword Beach. He's taught Britain's best. But nothing prepared him for this.

Major Allan Quatermain is bored. A decorated WWII veteran, sharpshooter, and descendant of the legendary explorer, he's now reduced to teaching military history to distracted cadets at Sandhurst.

Until MI2 shows up at his door.

A notorious Nazi war criminal may have faked his death and is on the hunt for the Holy Lance -- the fabled Spear of Destiny said to grant invincibility to whoever wields it. British intelligence wants Quatermain's help to find the relic first. Destroy it if necessary. Because if the rumors are true, the last flames of Hitler's Reich are about to reignite in blood and fire.

From the rain-slick streets of Oxford to the glittering lights of Paris to the shadowed bazaars of Istanbul, Quatermain will chase clues, outwit assassins, and confront old demons. By his side is Dr. Hannah Byrd, a brilliant and headstrong art historian with her own reasons to see this mission through. Together, they'll risk everything to stop history's worst nightmare from returning.

Major Quatermain and the Spear of Destiny is a gripping, old-school adventure perfect for fans of Indiana Jones, Clive Cussler, and Ken Follett. Brimming with espionage, archaeological mystery, romance, and richly detailed settings, it's a pulse-pounding ride through the shadows of history.

What readers are saying:

"Fantastic storytelling. Action, adventure, chasing ancient artifacts and finding them... although not easily obtained. Lots of bad guys. You will find Major Allan Quartermain to be one of the best adventure characters you will ever read!" -- Amazon review

"J.R. Rain puts in so much intrigue, suspense, and adventure into Major Quatermain and the Spear of Destiny. Another great novel written by J.R. Rain that grabbed my attention and didn't let me go until I read the entire book! The novel was so very well written, great characters, and a very strong storyline that made this such a great mystery story!" -- Amazon review

"Major Allan Quatermain, after having served in World War II, has settled down to a mundane and slightly boring job at the Royal Military Academy at Sanhurst as a professor. One day, he's approached by M12 and her Majesty's Life Guards and it's the start of his adventure. Hitler may be alive and it is Allan's job to find the Holy Lance before Hitler does. At the start of his adventure, Allan meets Hannah... whose father who has spent his life searching for the Lance and is now missing. It is thought that he'd been kidnapped. But has he? Allan and Hannah team up and are soon on-board the Orient Express where they come under attack but an unknown assailant. They also meet up with some Nazi hunters who offer their assistance. Who will find the Spear of Destiny first? Hitler or Allan Quatermain? This fast-paced action adventure has a bit of romance, too. Once you start reading, you won't want to put it down. I highly recommend this book. Looking forward to the second book in this series!" -- Amazon review

"This is the first book in the Major Quatermain series and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the characters and their development. Both Major Quatermain and Hannah have cheeky sides that comes out every now and then. Both are quite content in their humdrum lives; that is, until they are thrown together to save the world! (Well, Hannah actually decides to come along for the ride whether Major Quatermain likes it or not lol!) The pace was great and I enjoy how everything was revealed in a timely manner. I look forward to he next book in the series, and hope we also get to see Issac again and learn more about him, too!" -- Amazon review
