A legendary relic of great power -- and one man whose name is synonymous with adventure!

Legend has it that whoever possesses the Holy Lance -- the spear that pierced Christ's at the Crucifixion -- holds in his hands the fate of the world.

Ten years after serving in World War II in the British Special Service Brigade?and now teaching history at a military academy?Major Allan Quatermain is asked to perform one last mission.

MI6 has received intel that a renegade band of Nazi holdouts is seeking the powerful Spear of Destiny. Worse, that Hitler himself might still be alive and orchestrating a return to the world's stage.

Now it's up to Major Allan Quatermain, a grizzled war veteran and military historian with a pedigree of adventure, to find the spear first and bring Hitler back dead or alive.

All in a day's work for one man with adventure in his blood... and a taste for revenge.

What Readers are saying:

"Fantastic storytelling. Action, adventure, chasing ancient artifacts and finding them... although not easily obtained. Lots of bad guys. You will find Major Allan Quartermain to be one of the best adventure characters you will ever read!" -- Amazon review

"J.R. Rain puts in so much intrigue, suspense, and adventure into The Spear. Another great novel written by J.R. Rain that grabbed my attention and didn't let me go until I read the entire book! The novel was so very well written, great characters, and a very strong storyline that made this such a great mystery story!" -- Amazon review

"Major Allan Quatermain, after having served in World War II, has settled down to a mundane and slightly boring job at the Royal Military Academy at Sanhurst as a professor. One day, he's approached by M12 and her Majesty's Life Guards and it's the start of his adventure. Hitler may be alive and it is Allan's job to find the Holy Lance before Hitler does. At the start of his adventure, Allan meets Hannah... whose father who has spent his life searching for the Lance and is now missing. It is thought that he'd been kidnapped. But has he? Allan and Hannah team up and are soon on-board the Orient Express where they come under attack but an unknown assailant. They also meet up with some Nazi hunters who offer their assistance. Who will find the Spear of Destiny first? Hitler or Allan Quatermain? This fast-paced action adventure has a bit of romance, too. Once you start reading, you won't want to put it down. I highly recommend this book. Looking forward to the second book in this series!" -- Amazon review

"This is the first book in the Major Quatermain series and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the characters and their development. Both Major Quatermain and Hannah have cheeky sides that comes out every now and then. Both are quite content in their humdrum lives; that is, until they are thrown together to save the world! (Well, Hannah actually decides to come along for the ride whether Major Quatermain likes it or not lol!) The pace was great and I enjoy how everything was revealed in a timely manner. I look forward to he next book in the series, and hope we also get to see Issac again and learn more about him, too!" -- Amazon review

"I really enjoyed this book. It's a fast moving adventure involving Nazis, Hitler, and a legendary spear of power. Likable characters, entertaining and very well written. I look forward to the second book in the series!" -- Amazon review
