Mary, an SOE agent, is dropped into Poland to investigate strange images spotted on an aerial photograph, along with a young female Polish Freedom Fighter.
The two women are from opposite ends of the female spectrum, making the mission a challenge for Mary in many ways. Mary's new husband Lucas is sent on a mission with the U.S.A.A.F, flying as an observer in a B-17 Flying Fortress. As WW2 moves into the final months, Mary and Lucas long for peace and a chance to live their lives away from fear and horror. The Allies are pushing to end the reign of Nazi terror and the Russians seem to be holding the trump card. The Russian armies pause on the Polish border, while the Polish resistance struggles in the Warsaw uprising against the occupying Nazis. Will the Russians liberate Poland? Will the uprising be quashed? Can Mary reach her target and get vital information to London? How will Lucas cope with flying in a B-17 through the flak and fighters, over occupied Europe? Mary is determined to complete her mission, but there are several twists in her attempt to succeed, that will test her strength, her courage, and even her sexuality.
