Description
We at Inkslinger Veterans write anthologies for charity - specifically cancer research which has thumped through all of our lives like the worst kind of thug. Fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, cousins and friends. Cancer in every shape and form, from breast to prostate, bowel, testicular, throat, mouth, kidney, lymphoma and aplastic anaemia and that's just the tip of an awfully large iceberg. In many ways, writing the stories has been therapeutic for us as we worked because cancer doesn't discriminate. It doesn't care about families or friendships and the effects are often so much wider than the cancer sufferer.
We veterans decided we could raise money for research by using the one skill we all had in common - to write engaging stories. We are published writers across genres and each time we've sat down to create an anthology, we've picked a theme and applied a personally loved genre to that theme. Tortured Hearts was the first anthology released. It's a collection which will make your heart race as you read and you may just drop that glass of something you have in your hand. We've also released Historical Tales which is electrifying historical fiction from a highly select list of award-winning indie writers. Following on, Tales from a Car Boot Sale is an eclectic mix of stories will make the reader realise that they can never safely go to a car boot sale again - without eyes wide open.
We've all loved the challenge of writing these stories - short stories have the capacity to take a reader a long way with minimal wordage and maximum impact. They're a challenge to write as well, with a story arc and characters that must be established in the quickest possible time. But having cancer panting at our backs, and wanting to write, to sell, to raise money so that we can turn on the enemy is the biggest inspiration we could have.
By buying this book, you are helping us slug it back to the Big C. If you enjoy the anthology, you can help raise more funds by reviewing and spreading the word for which we and many others thank you...
