Description
An uplifting tale of people's desire to help each other in the season of goodwill - a romantic comedy with a twist in the tale.
Carol fell in love with Wisteria Cottage the moment she laid eyes on it and moved in two weeks before Christmas hoping it would be start of a new more positive period in her life.
On her first night in her new home she discovers an old Christmas card to someone called Annie with a heart-breaking message inside from Jake.
Although she doesn't know them, and despite being on a self-imposed dating break herself, Carol begins planning how she can bring them together, while her new neighbour, Sally, is attempting a bit of matchmaking of her own.
5 stars... A story to read every Christmas!
A perfect way to get into the festive spirit, this little book gives the reader as much warmth as a mince pie, sherry and a log fire.
Carol has moved into her new home, just before Christmas and faces all the challenges that brings. In an abandoned box of Christmas decorations she finds a mysterious card hinting at the cottage's sad recent history which Carol feels compelled to investigate - and the reader is hooked.
This is such a feel-good story, it should be read EVERY Christmas!
5 stars... Christmas Cracker!
I loved this - it cleverly wove together a 'setting up your first home' story/ mini mystery/ romance and amazing snow-laden Christmas tableaux and was like the perfect Christmas present - not too big and leave you feeling happy and warm inside.
It made me feel very nostalgic and so immersed in Christmas that by the end of it I was wishing for a) snow and b) a character like Luke to show up in my life. Highly recommended.
5 stars... Perfect Christmas short story.
Julia Roberts has created a really cosy atmosphere in this book despite the snow falling outside and it really sounded an idyllic place to spend Christmas... this has all the ingredients for a perfect Christmas read.
5 stars... Julia Roberts has managed to pack a fair bit in to this festive treat of a novella. We have romance, mystery, community spirit and heart-warming seasonal scenes to put us all in the festive mood... Christmas at Carol's is a perfect novella for a cold wintry day to comfort you with joy.
5 stars... Christmassy!
... Written in the first person which I really enjoyed. Lost myself. Lovely setting and makes you feel very cosy. Very likeable main character.
