Description

The book of Revelation is one of the most exciting yet misunderstood books in the Bible. It is the last book of the Bible and was written around 95 a.d. by the Apostle John who was one of the original 12 disciples of Jesus. It seems that people either love this book or avoid it at all costs and for obvious reasons.

The visions John sees in this book are sometimes difficult to understand which can lead to numerous interpretations by various writers. After all, in Revelation chapter 9 John see what look like locust that look like horses with what looked like gold crowns on their heads with human faces, hair of a woman, and teeth like a lion. Pretty wild and amazing stuff that could lead to many different interpretations.

But what we will see is that all of the visions of strange things that John writes about in the book of Revelation are explain either within the book of Revelation or in another part of the Bible. There is no need to come up with far fetched interpretations, the Bible itself will explain the meaning for us.

Personally, as I have been studying and teaching the Bible for over 30 years and the more I read the book of Revelation the more I have come to love this book. Also called the "Apocalypse" (the Greek name of the book) which means "unveiling" God is revealing to us what is going to happen in the future.

When the disciples of Jesus asked him why he taught in parables (see Matthew 13:10,11) he said it was to reveal truth to believers but to hide truth from unbelievers. If you really want to understand this book the truth will be revealed to you if you believe. But, I believe God used some of the imagery in this book for the same reason as Jesus used parables, to hide truth from unbelievers but to reveal truth to believers.

So let's get started and dig into one of the most exciting books ever written!
