Description
This new version of Aristotle's essential classic on the art of persuasion is carefully edited for the benefit of contemporary general readers. Aristotle's expression of ideas and reasoning, though always rewarding, has been a challenge until now as his surviving texts originally served for lecture notes, rather than edited for publication.
Occasional paragraph headings have been added as quick summaries and helpful points of reference. Many examples in support of arguments were trimmed during the edit when one or two were sufficient to illustrate the point. No essential thought or idea is missing from the original, though a number of unsubstantial digressions have been eliminated for the sake of core argument clarity and overall understanding.
