Description
Chrissy is a magnet for hard luck cases, from stray dogs who beat a path to her low-rent duplex door to alley cats that show up on her sagging porch and never leave. Not that Chrissy's doing that well herself. In an age when all world deities keep showing up to prove they exist, she's already mistakenly become betrothed to the thunder god Thor, which didn't go over well with anyone in her family. She's trying to keep her head down and avoid the attention of all gods when she accidently runs into one of the most Godly.
Sitting in direct 100-degree desert sunshine on Chrissy's decidedly less-than-safe neighborhood street, God's wearing a faded housedress and knitting something Chrissy can't quite make out, which appears to be filled with stars. She says she has a quest for Chrissy, who's less than interested.
But it's almost impossible to say no to a god. Especially one who just shows up and brings animals with her. Because the quest involves an rescue animal shelter that is itself in need of rescue, the healing of her nephew's emotional scars, the stiffening of her sister's backbone, the change of the lives of quite a few animals, the outfoxing of an evil state inspector (who may not be what he seems) and the drinking of quite a bit of poorly prepared tea - prepared by the man who might just be the answer to Chrissy's prayers.
Not that she knew she was praying for any of this. But the answers to prayers don't always come when - or how - they're expected.
