Description
They tell Abby everything is going to be fine. There are new medications. New treatments. In no time at all the world is going to make sense again.
That would be great. If she could only believe it. Fantastic to think she's feeling sunlight and not radiation, that no one has overthrown the United States government, not the Koreans, Chinese, Columbians or anyone else. That her grown children are correct and Abby's just dealing with a mild case of schizophrenia.
That would be great. But something is going on. Because everyone is wearing biohazard suits. Because it's illegal to speak English in the New York City police precinct where she winds up bailing out her sister who's old enough to know better as she protests - what, exactly?
Abby's not sure what's happened, but she knows it's still happening. Or happening again. Or just starting to happen. Her reality may not be the one everyone shares. It may not be a nice reality. But she suspects her reality is rapidly becoming the real reality.
Only - which one?
