Description
BEYOND GARTSHERRIE is the follow up to THE LAWS OF GARTSHERRIE and charts the lives of the Law, Johnstone and Fischer families from 1928 until the outbreak of the Second World War.
1928 was the year when Parliament passed The Representation of the People Act and women were at last granted the Right to Vote. This was a 'What now?' moment for Suffragettes after their many years of campaigning for the equal franchise.
The book is set to the backdrop of the historical events and social changes taking place all over the world in the 20's and 30's. However, the characters are still warm, vivid and memorable as the tale of their lives unfold.
BEYOND GARTSHERRIE also conveys a sense of time and place and how international events affected the lives of Scottish folk.
