Description
DS Amanda Derby has been assigned an undercover job -- infiltrating a gang and getting information from the boss. She acts as a 'woman of the night', knowing she'll be one of the many girls on a particular street corner invited to monthly parties at his place.
With no information as to what the gang are involved in, Amanda, now Alice Cousins, has to work out what the shipments are -- and also what the 'count' means. But with the boss, Jack Stretton, not letting anything slip, Alice has her work cut out for her.
The priest, Father O'Leary, passes messages to Alice, from an unknown source who may or may not be involved with the gang, and it's clear things are not what they seem.
What else does Jack run apart from a textiles business?
How long can Amanda retain her cover as Alice without bottling out?
And why the hell did she fall for Jack, the one man she's supposed to hate?
Her love for the law is strong, but her love for Jack is stronger. Sometimes, people will do anything for it...
