Description
The day Talisha was born was the happiest day of Bryony's life. It didn't matter to her that the baby's father was long gone; it didn't matter to her that she would have to cope as an unmarried mum - all she knew was that was going to give her daughter all the love she had to give. That was on Monday. On Tuesday Bryony's world collapsed.
Now Bryony has to face a terrible truth. The baby in the crib next to her isn't her baby. The creature that stares up at her is something monstrous, something inhuman and no matter how much she protests that the baby isn't hers, nobody will believe her. Desperate for help, Bryony and her friend Brook look for answers in the most unlikely places and eventually turn to a gipsy called Orlanda for help. Orlanda tells Bryony the terrible truth: Her baby has been stolen and the creature that has been put in its place is a Changeling. Bryony is left with a terrible choice - is she willing to face perils unknown to get her baby back, or accept that her baby is lost forever? Bryony's answer? 'I'm coming for you, Talisha. Just hold on, sweetheart. I'm coming for you."

Author's Note:
For those readers who haven't read the rest of the Faerie series, Changeling, has a self contained storyline and it can be read without reading any of the other books.
**********
Note to readers who have been following the story from the beginning:
Although Lily and Connor don't appear in this book, you'll find many familiar faces in Changeling. The storyline in Book Seven and Book Eight do overlap, so readers who want to get the complete story, might want to read Changeling before they read The Darkening. If, however, you want to skip it, you can easily pick up the story again in The Darkening without having read Book Seven. Lily and Connor, Aidan and Kieran are all back in Book Eight. I hope you enjoy both books.
