Description

PJ and his new wife Sam move from their urban flat to a house in the country. PJ identifies sheep as a 'must have' solution for his newfound field, although having never so much as touched one or even owned a window box. Sam necessarily spends much of her life thinking 'why me', and looking for ways to limit the trail of chaos frequently left behind by her husband.

Help arrives in the form of Stan, a builder, and Tyler, the local ground worker and gravedigger. Close friendships develop and PJ is co-opted to help Tyler in his grave digging day job as Alf, Tyler's aging father, takes a less active role. PJ's and Tyler's backgrounds could not be more different, and during Tyler's patient training of PJ in the art of grave digging things do not always go to plan.

'Real Fun' (anagram 'Funeral') is a light-hearted account of some of the humorous unexpected situations that Tyler and PJ find themselves in, set respectfully within the bitter sweet and mysterious world of the rural gravedigger.

Philip's influences include the deity and magic of John Sullivan (Only Fools and Horses), Tom Sharp (Wilt), Alf Wight (James Herriot), and the immortal writers of 'The Black Adder'. Philip wrote 'Real Fun' after encouragement from his closest friends.
