Description

On the outside, Thomas Grey just seems like any other ordinary guy. On the inside, however, he is at war with himself and has been since childhood.

Thomas is married to the woman of his dreams, has a beautiful two-year-old daughter, and is devoted to his teaching career. Regardless, everything around him in life seems to be falling apart. He inevitably turns to an old yet destructive solace: alcohol. Tensions rise, mistakes are made, and only a lonesome future awaits. Changes must be undertaken. That is always easier said than done, of course.

Thomas is not alone in this fight, nevertheless. His closest friend, Darren, comes to the rescue. Ever the optimist, Darren seeks to aid Thomas in putting an end to the terrible anxiety and depression that plagues him. The two friends take on a venture that forces them to face their demons, to rethink what matters most, despite the strain this puts on their own relationship. Help also comes in so many unexpected forms, from the unlikeliest of people. It soon becomes a journey that reveals hidden secrets, grave revelations, and surprising twists.

The author wrote this novel to highlight mental health awareness, given his own personal struggles. It blends humour and poignancy, amid real-life scenarios, in the hope of helping to break the wrongful stigma still attached to mental health ailments.

There is always a light in the darkness...
** Reviews **

"As a sufferer of anxiety this book interested me just from the title... Throughout the book there are coping mechanisms which I made a conscious note of, to try when mine flares up. It is also quite heart-breaking and had tears rolling down my cheeks when reading it." Julie M - Amazon, UK.

"It was an honest account of someone in the throes of anxiety and depression and so true to life. The ups and downs of his life - and that of the people who were close to him - kept me interested throughout." Jill S - Amazon, UK.
